Sacar Outreach

Sacar Outreach provides a bespoke service for people with an ASD and associated disorders based in the community across Bradford, Leeds and into West and North Yorkshire. It is recognised that some people benefit from support outside of Sacar's premises in Bradford.

The outreach service can include support anywhere from managing a transition period from school to college, college to other academic and learning environments or into employment. Coping with change and dealing with the motivation to engage with the wider community, and dealing with associated anxieties can be debilitating or de-motivating to a person with ASD. The outreach service deals with these areas and helps to devise strategies to build confidence and self esteem so that these opportunities can still be accessed.

The outreach service also teaches skills in an ASD specific way and covers the following areas; identifying and coping with emotions, understanding, developing and maintaining friendships and relationships, learning or re-learning communication skills and conversation skills, social skills and training in social understanding. The Outreach programme provides encouragement to self advocate, address and overcome barriers to community participation and a provides a helping hand to seek and access developmental opportunities, as social inclusion is addressed as part of the learner programme.

Sacar Outreach works by conducting an initial outreach assessment then a detailed learner programme is devised aiming to support the individual to recognise and achieve their aims and potential. The assessment includes observation of behaviours, discussions with parents or carers and more importantly determining the needs, skills, abilities and aspirations of the individual. The bespoke learner programme outlines work the outreach service will carry out on a direct learning basis and can work with parents, carers and other support workers so as to implement a consistent support programme to meet the individual’s needs. A multi agency approach is encouraged and any learning programme is devised to work in line with other members of the support network. The programme is monitored and reviewed regularly so as to maintain a flexible, appropriate and responsive support service.

A Scale of Charges covers the cost of a three-part assessment. Once the assessment is complete and recommendations are made the contact time thereafter is charged on an hourly basis and invoiced monthly. The terms and conditions of this arrangement are detailed in a separate Service- User Agreement. For more information please contact us.

Any further information you require can be directed to Sacar at the contact number below where we hope to be able to answer any questions or queries you may have.
